Portfolio Project reflection

 My final reflection!!

Let's start over. Hello, my name is Christian Schroder, and this is my final reflection after working for a pretty long time on the Portfolio Project. Me and my partners Sebastien Nicolas and Kai Rader have worked and done the best possible, we enjoyed every moment of this Project. We encountered many problems including the time, the shots, the re doing of things and even the editing. We have gone through it all, but it was all worth my time.

Anyway, I came into this class not knowing anything. I was thinking of switching out. Throughout the class I wasn't very interested. But when the Portfolio Project came, I was even more bothered. I was thinking, more work, and there goes my time off. But I didn't realize that it was going to be this fun! Obviously, my partners were a huge part of the fun that I had, but learning all the different shots and techniques in the media sphere was more than interesting. I would 100% recommend this class to anyone, even if they don't know anything. I looked forward to coming to class and even when we had to film in the weekend because of this Portfolio Project.

These blogs really helped me with everything, like the shot we take, the CCR content and it even gave me a base to build my overall Project. Overall, this Portfolio Project was a gift. What I mean by that is that this school year itself has been hard, a lot of studying and a lot of tests. The Portfolio Project was a way that I could relax but also being involved and interactive while having fun. It was as if we were working but at the same time, we weren't. Sure, there was some problems and they were surely annoying and complicated to fix, but it was all worth it in the end.

I came into the Project knowing little and left with a huge amount of knowledge. Whether it was the preparation or the process of building the film opening as well the CCR's, I came out with a lot of important details that will not only help me in my future essays and possibly any other classes, but it will help me with my life. Yes, this Portfolio Project was indeed one of my highlights in this school year.

Anyway, tomorrow will be the last blog that I will post. It's sad that it's all coming to an end. But it surely isn't all done. Tomorrow, I will give you guys the final film opening product as well as my CCR that is divided into 2 different videos. Questions 1 and 2 in the first video which is the director commentary and the second video with question 3 and 4 as a talk show that featured my brother Stefa Schroder which was also in the film opening as an actor.

Stay tuned!

Post about production of CCR's

 Set Design creation!!!

-For question 1 and 2 I didn't really need a set to film, as it is mostly my voice with clips of our production as well as examples. Meanwhile, for questions 3 and 4 of the CCR I did a talk show.

An important part of a talk show is the set design. Meaning, the props or objects that are present to make it seem like it is a real talk show. Here below, I will provide a screen shot featuring me and my brother during the talk show in which you can see my TV as an indicator that it's a talk show. I also made sure to add a pencil and notebook as well as a mug for the host and behind the host I put my dad's guitar to make the set full and with creative objects.

As you can see, Imade sure to add specific details to make my CCR the best as possible. I even made my brother wear a suit to have greater impact to the production, again to further develop that this is a talk show that is currently taking place.

Here below, I will provide a video of the set design before I recorded the CCR. Don't mind the audio as it was a video I sent to my friend which is my partner for the Portfolio Project:

This was it for today. Tomorrow will be my reflection of the Portfolio Project so stay tuned!!

Post about post-production (editing) of CCRs

CCR questions 3 and 4 focused editing!!!

I can't believe that all this work is close to being finished. My group and I have done our best to make the film opening the best and I have tried my best to make my CCR's the best possible. Anyway, this blog will be about the editing process of my talk show featuring me and my brother Stefan Schroder.

-At the start, I was a little lost. The least I could do was put the clips together. Whether it was organizing them from first to last or quality wise, I just put them together and this was how it turned out.

-Some slight problems I ran into is that the videos that I took on my phone had a good sound and when I sent it to the computer to put it into clip champ, the audio switched and sounded worst. I tried to compress the sound but sounded even worse. So the best I could do was put the volume higher with some touches and it sounded better. Talking about sound, this next picture of the editing process featuring some sounds and a picture I used in the middle of the talk show.

And lastly, the final product of the CCR editing was the end. As you can see, I added an outro song that fit the moment. Here it is:

Well, that was it for Thursday's blog and I hope to see all of ya'll tomorrow for a big blog.

Bye!

Research and script for #4 question of CCR post

 The last CCR!!

This CCC #4 is the last one. I actually feel a little sad that it's all coming to an end. But don't think it's over yet, I still plan to film the CCR's next week Wednesday or Thursday. As well as the CCR post I will also give you guys the final edited film opening we filmed a few weeks back. I will try my best to make everything as detailed and as fun as possible.

A little about a talk show:

A talk show is an online or in person program were a host, interviewer, or a guest, as a variety of questions from which in this case I will provide down below. Basically as the question is asked, in this case I will respond and make it detailed for the audience to understand what I am saying and the back round to it.

The Question asked for CCC#4:

-How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?

My script:

HOST: Earlier you talked about how working with the group helped you grow as an actor. I want to move into another part of the project now. How did you use software, hardware, and online tools throughout this project?

ME: We used a lot of different tech. On the hardware side, I had to get used to working around the cameras, microphones, and lighting setups. I learned how to fit in so the camera could frame me properly, which we struggled quite a bit on.

HOST: And what about the digital tools? Did they play a big role too?

ME: Definitely. We shared scripts and updates online, so everything stayed in place. We used our group chat to plan filming days, send reminders, and keep everyone on the same page. Even though I thought we did great, sometimes we were a little behind on some things. Overall, it made communication a lot easier..

HOST: Sounds like the tech really helped the project run smoothly.

ME: It did. The hardware helped us capture the scenes properly, the software kept everything organised, and the online tools made it easy for us to communicate and share ideas. Even though I was acting, understanding how all of that worked helped me fit into the production better and work more smoothly with the rest of the team.

HOST: There’s a lot happening behind the scenes that people don’t always think about.

ME: Exactly. It all works together to make the final product come out right.

HOST: Well, that wraps up our conversation for today. Thanks for joining us and giving us a look at what went into the project.

ME: Thanks for having me. It was great talking about it.

HOST: And thank you to everyone watching. We’ll see you next time.

Research and script for #3 question of CCR post

 Little insight:

-Now that my research and script is done for the CCR #1 and CCR #2 that contain the first video of 4-5 minutes, let's talk about the second video, also of 4-5 minutes which will be about the CCR #3 and CCR #4. For this #3 I will do a talk show, which is basically having a guest or an interviewer asking me the CCR question that corresponds to the CCR #3. I will then respond with detail and clear understanding. For the CCR's in the first video, the voice and sound behind the screen would be me, barely showing my face or even fully being the voice and have zero screen time. Meanwhile, the CCR #3 and CCR#4 will be a talk show in which it will be either my mom as the guest asking questions or my brother. I haven't decided who yet. I will be showing my face and displaying my voice in this section of the CCR to switch it up, since in the first video I will only be heard not shown directly.

What the CCR #3 is asking:

-How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

The script:

HOST: Welcome back, everyone. Today we are talking with one of the actors from a recent group production. Let’s dive right in. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

ME: Honestly, this project pushed me in ways I didn’t expect. At the start, I was mainly focused on my lines and my character itself, but working in a group made me realize how much more goes into a scene. I had to learn how to coordinate with the camera team and how to adjust my performance depending on the shot, which was something I struggles for some time.. That alone changed the way I approached acting.

HOST: So you became more aware of the technical side of filming?

ME: Definitely. I started paying attention to framing, lighting, and how my movements affected the setup. I learned how to stay consistent between takes and how to match energy when we had to redo a shot for any reason.

HOST: And what about working with the rest of the group? Did that help you improve too?

ME: For sure. Acting with a team made me realize how important communication is. We had to rely on each other to make scenes feel natural, so I got better at listening, reacting, and giving my partners something real to work with. I also learned how to support the crew so everything ran smoothly. It wasn’t just about my performance it was about helping the whole team create something that felt believable which I think turned out great.

HOST: Sounds like the project helped you grow in more than one area.

ME: It did. I walked away with stronger acting skills, a better understanding of how a set works, and a lot more confidence in working with a team. It felt like I wasn’t just acting, I was learning how to be part of a real production.

HOST: That’s great to hear. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

ME: Thanks for having me.

That was it for today, but tomorrow will be the final blog for this week as well as the last CCR research and script!

See yall tomorrow.

Research and script for #2 question of CCR post

 CCR#2!!

Some of my thoughts and ideas:

-The CCR #2 is also a very important aspect to the Portfolio Project as we need 4 of them. I recently, this past week, did a blog about the #1 which was very detailed on what the questions were and how I will answer them in the actual video. I was thinking of merging the CCR#1 and CCR#2 together so I can do only 2 videos instead of 4 of them.

Research on directed commentary:

-As I will do directed commentary, I wanted to let you guys know a bit more about what it is. Directed commentary is when a film’s director, in this case I would be providing insight about the film opening, how scenes were made, why we did what we did, and what we intended the audience to notice.

What the CCR#2 is asking:

-How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

Since I am merging the CCR #1 and the CCR#2, I will definetly have to answer all the questions for both the CCR's. I am aiming to make this CCR #2 about 2 minutes so that the CCR #1 can occupy a bit more time as it is a bit longer.

Script:

-As you watch our project , you can see how it was done to connect with viewers who spend most of their time online. The pacing, the visual choices, and the short structure all match the way people interact with media to this day. Because of that, the best release method is digital distribution. Putting the film on a streaming platform gives the audience immediate access, letting them discover it naturally without needing a huge marketing budget.

Once the film is out there, the engagement grows through the way people share and interact to content online. Short clips, intense moments, and insights of the process are what would do us well to social platforms, where viewers often decide what to watch based on what appears in their feed. These small pieces of the project act as entry points, engaging people toward the film without needing a big campaign.

The story’s tone or mood also encourages discussion. The mystery, the tension, and the unanswered details invite viewers to talk about what they think is happening, which can help the project spread through conversation. That kind of audience involvement becomes part of the distribution itself. People aren’t just watching the film, they are participating in how it flows.

So the distribution strategy is built around the access to insights and such, as well as the fan interactions as I mentioned. Streaming provides the foundation, social platforms expand the popularity, and audience curiosity keeps the project alive. The film grows through the way viewers respond to it, making fan engagement one of the most important parts of our distribution process.

That is all for today's blog. Tomorrow will be about the second video for CCR #3 and CCR#4.

Bye!

Post discussing CCR production ideas

 My Ideas!!!

-For the CCR, my ideas will be crucial to a well developed CCR production. It could be the back round view or even how I display the content that will be put into action. It all varies depending on what ideas come to mind.

Content:

-For my content, I was thinking that I should be the main target being displayed in the filming, but then I realized that maybe utilizing a voice over and displaying the content as I speak might work better. Either way, after all that thought, I just decided that I will be occupying most of the screen time.

 For all of the CCR?

-Not exactly. As I was saying, that I was going to be displayed talking and adding pictures and videos as I talk and film, for some parts of the CCR I will not be placing myself in there. It will be as I talk and add pictures as well as just simply talking but instead of showing myself, I will be showing the content.

Location ideas:

-To make this a simple idea, I was looking to film my CCR displaying me, some content like videos or pictures and also, here is the fun part, a fun back round so that as you view the content you can also not get bored. What do I mean by this?  What I mean is that instead of having a normal wall behind me, I came with an idea that I should be placed next to a lake or just an interesting choice so that the viewer doesn't get bored as I explain the content.

Here is one lake close to where I live that I might possibly use for my CCR production:

What I will do for the CCR's:

-I was thinking that a talk-show was the best for me to do, but realized that a director commentary might be the best. What is a director commentary? Director speaking on camera as well as examples from production which would be me in a creative back round talking as well as displaying examples from production.

That is all for today's wonderful Tuesday. Later in the week I will be making more blogs, which all corelate to this one as pretty much all will be CCR #2, CCR#3, and CCR#4 research and script.

I hope that you enjoyed today's blog and stay tuned for the next one.

Bye!!

Editing process #2

Adding music?

As I recently talked in the previous blog, regarding the issues, we just encountered another one while editing which was adding music. We brainstormed a lot for this and when filming attempted different stunts of how we were going to implement this. We tried from music playing in the car, but it sounded poor with the sound and music out the car but it sounded unrealistic. We came to the conclusion of editing our sound in using Adobe Premiere Pro with adjusting the sound effects.

As this issue grew some concern all we had to do is research a video on how to fix this problem which our partner Sebastien Nicolas did, he fixed it and implemented the sound/music into the clip of the car pulling in with the music playing. With a few tweaks, we were able to the get music/audio to sound like it was coming from a car successfully.

These are some screen shots of how we implemented the sound:

These two screenshots really does show the process we had to go through as this issue was delt with. Editing has always been the hardest part to a film of any kind. And I am lucky enough to have 2 hard working partners that don't give up when an issue or a problem happen.

I hope you guys enjoyed this week's blogs.

Stay tuned for next week!!
